Not geographically, but chronologically, since -- as we have moved into fall -- certain crops are coming in, and others are going by the wayside.
Broccoli and bush beans got the boot. Tomatoes are finishing up, but cukes and bell peppers just never went anywhere. I'm still pulling hot peppers, but they're finally slowing down. Fall broccoli, cauliflower, romaine lettuce, Brussels sprouts, peas, beans and carrots are all growing like crazy.
Not surprisingly, cherry tomatoes are still producing like crazy. I'll make one more batch of sauce and freeze it.
This is the time for spring-planted beans! I'm pulling 1-2 cups of beans a day. Tomorrow I'll blanch and freeze some.
This is a new fall treat: raspberries. We've always gotten a wave at the beginning of the season, but this is the first year we've gotten two crops. Every other day I get enough berries for breakfast (along with homemade yogurt and oats).
And they are so beautiful! Big, bright red, hanging there like little earrings. And oh-so tasty!
So, the "main" season was sort of a bust, due to lack of sunlight early on, but late season crops look promising. Time to start thinking about what I want to grow in 2012...
Happy gardening!
